TROUT AND THE BLUE FROG

Once upon a time there was a blue frog, being rare and endangered he stayed in his hole way to much. Come out! Come out! The trout seeks wisdom oh great frog!

The trout had been looking some time for the great blue frog, she had heard he was very wise and had all kinds of answers. She had started as a little fry in a place called a fish farm. At some point in her life she had been put into a big tank and then put in a bigger body of water. Then she had swam to close to a big hole where the water spilled over and found herself in running water that moved along at a steady pace. She found this place very interesting. The water was different, more muddy and murky but lots to see and other creatures to know, some not to friendly (even dangerous), but there was lots of food and hiding places so life was not bad. Trout’s problem she began to wonder why she existed. She had started to ask of those she came across, “why am I here?” No one knew. One day an old turtle told her about the blue frog. If you can find the blue frog he will be able to tell you about why you exist!

The blue frog? Where would you find a blue frog? No one seemed to know. As she swam through life she asked those she came into contact with. Surprisingly she would come across those creatures that had bits and pieces of information. One day after a week of hard rains that had caused the moving water to spread out and fill the flat lands and little valleys and holes around it she came to rest in a deep pool of water. The pool was deep but not large. Trout raised her head out of the water and came face to face with a frog that was of all things blue!

After a brief moment she asked. “Are you the blue frog?” The frog snapped a fly out of the air and finally answered. "Well I am blue and I am a frog, what can I do for you?" Trout did not hesitate, “why do I exist?” “You exist so others can live”, was the blue frog's answer, and he hopped away.

The sun had come out and was high in the sky, trout sunk to the bottom of the pool. I exist so others can live! I wonder what that means. Trout spend many hours in thought about the answer she had received from the blue frog. She did not notice that the pool was getting smaller. Finally when it became hard for her to breathe because the water was disappearing she realized she was dieing. She looked up and saw a dog that was very hungry standing over her.

It took 2 big bites and trout found a new existence in giving the dog nourishment to go on living in search of his home. As trout die she realized it was not a bad thing to exist so others could live! She died happy!
